The Beginning...

Karen deVlaming, owner of Beautiful Transitions, had a burning desire to work with people and do more with her life. She was stuck in an aerospace industry job that was no longer fulfilling. When the former owner offered the shop to Karen, she jumped at the chance. Karen found that she had a natural talent and temperament to fit wigs and prostheses. "It felt that I had a flock of angels driving me".

The very next day she went to Cheri's Unique Boutique, which was owned by Cheri Staley, to inquire about purchasing her mastectomy swimwear. Cheri, who has had four bouts with cancer, including a mastectomy, was not able to meet the demands of keeping her shop open. There was a magical connection between the two women, which they both describe as a divine intervention resulting in the formation of a solid working relationship, with Cheri moving to Beautiful Transitions. We have since added other cancer survivors to our staff.

Karen felt for the past few years that she needed a St. Pete presence in order to better serve South Pinellas. In late 2007, while having lunch with a long time friend Janelle Quinn, Karen asked if she would be interested in opening a new store in St. Pete. Without any hesitation at all, Janelle replied "Yes" which resulted in the opening of the new St. Pete boutique in June 2008.

MLK is one-way southbound at our St. Pete store so you will have to approach from the north.
We will be on the right hand side of the street. Park on the street or north side of the building.
